About
Inner Theater
Inner Theater is, in essence, a combination of imagery and EFT Tapping. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple yet powerful process that shifts our internal energy by tapping on a series of acupuncture points on the face and body. If you are not familiar with EFT, find out more HERE.
I believe that the great discovery of Inner Theater is that when you respond to personal imagery with tapping, the images change and things transform. We don’t know where they are going, but the deeper mind is at work and something healing is happening.
A wonderful feature of Inner Theater is that it frees you from the need to figure things out. We don’t have to know what to do next; the images have a life of their own. As we respond to the images with tapping, it is as if we are facilitating a pure healing process which comes from a very wise part of us.
Engaging the Deeper Mind
The subconscious holds the roots of our problems and the emotional core of our issues. As we allow the subconscious to work through imagery and we support that process by tapping along, amazing things happen and the whole issue is often transformed. We invite you to read the Inner Theater stories here on our site to get an idea of just how creative and fascinating the deeper mind can be. Best of all, people report that the results are deep and lasting.
Imagery Comes Naturally
Another discovery of Inner Theater is how easily people go there. EFT alone seems to stir the deeper mind and often images arise spontaneously. With Inner Theater, we may do a conventional EFT session and simply circle into the imagery from time to time. There are also beautiful frames that we can offer such as the Sacred Space, the Healing Room or the Inner Meeting Place. In those approaches, we may go into the inner world for the entire session. Inner Theater work often becomes inner child healing as the images may lead us to younger parts of ourselves. In order for EFT to flow easily and naturally, we bring the language of inviting, allowing and acknowledging into our tapping. EFT is wonderfully flexible and easy to apply in this new way with simple variations in the words we use.

Imagery Is the Language of the Subconscious
With Inner Theater, you come up with an image that in some way expresses your issue or your feelings about it and then give it your attention with tapping. Especially as you tune in to more details and stay with the image, something shifts. Rather than trying to figure things out and make something happen (left brain), we are allowing an inner experience of images and impressions to unfold (right brain). I believe that imagery engages the subconscious, allowing our subconscious wisdom and creativity to work with our issue in a whole new way.
Imagery is not necessarily visual. We all have “inner senses” and can imagine anything we have experienced — sounds, smells, tastes, touch and body feeling as well as sights and visuals. If you are more kinesthetic, you may get more of a body feeling and “just know” what is happening. If you are more auditory, a story may come to mind in words rather than strong visuals.
And why is adding tapping so powerful? Dr. Candace Pert, the pioneering neuroscientist who wrote Molecules of Emotion, says “the body is the subconscious mind.” Imagery connects us with the subconscious. Then tapping on our body helps the subconscious do what it needs to do with the images for healing and transformation.
Explore Your Inner World...
I often say, “the subconscious is brilliant” because that is what I observe over and over. I continue to be amazed at the transformative power of tapping with our own images. When something shifts, you feel it deep inside. Sometimes the image or story becomes a significant part of your inner world, like a supportive inner vocabulary that you return to whenever needed.
By its very nature, Inner Theater is best explained through experiences. Read some of our Inner Theater stories. And visit our Give It A Try page to get a taste of it yourself!
